British Columbia journalist wins $275,000 defamation lawsuit after 77-day protest outside his Surrey home, he was harassed by ‘cult-like’ China protest group

B.C. Supreme Court awarded Bing Chen Gao $275,000 in damages for the defamatory statements Yun Fei Zhu published about him. The court's decision came after supporters of Chinese businessman Guo Wengui staged a 77-day protest outside his Surrey home in 2020. The protesters were supporters of Guo Wengui who founded a group called the New Federal State of China with former Donald Trump advisor Steve Bannon.
