A Dutch cycle path turned plastic waste into something useful. In 2018, Zwolle opened a 30-metre path made with about 1,000 kilograms of recycled household plastic. That amount was equivalent to roughly 218,000 plastic cups. The experiment showed that discarded plastic could become part of everyday infrastructure, not simply waste. The path also included space for water storage and sensors to study how the material performed.
